The Basil & Murial Hooper Scholarships

Background:

Bequeathed in 1966 from the Estate of Muriel Eunice Ebba Hooper to establish one or more scholarships for students of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in a field of studies deemed to be most warranted. Priority may be accorded to different instruments in different years.

Open to: This scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students (both local and international) enrolled at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
  Scholarship recipients must enrol full-time in the agreed Faculty/degree program during the tenure of their scholarship.

Duration:  The scholarship is awarded for the normal full-time duration of the recipient's degree course (inclusive of honours)

The David & Nhila Dumbrell Scholarship

Background:

This scholarship was established to support piano students studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in financial need.

Open to: This scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students (both local and international) enrolled at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
  Scholarship recipients must enrol full-time in the agreed Faculty/degree program during the tenure of their scholarship.

Helpmann Family Fellowship

Background:

Bequeathed in 1987 this fellowship was established to assist opera students to pursue study that is consistent with the development of a career in opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.

The Kathleen and Allison Short Scholarship

Background:

Bequeathed by The Estate of Allison Louise Larsen to support talented students at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying piano, violin, viola or cello who are deemed to be in financial need.

Open to: This scholarship is open to full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students (both local and international) enrolled at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music.
  The recipient is to be a talented student of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music who is studying Piano, Violin, Viola or Cello.   
  The recipient is to be deemed to be in financial need.

Background:

Patricia Long Scholarship

Background:

The scholarship is intended to support a student from the Conservatorium High School entering the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM) for tertiary study.

Open to: Open to students from the Conservatorium High School who are enrolling full-time in SCM, and whose financial circumstances are such that without such assistance they would be unable to bear the costs of a University of Sydney education.

Brian Abel Piano Scholarship

Background:

The scholarship is intended to support any piano students at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM) who demonstrate financial need or disadvantage and have lived in Australia for the past 5 years.

The William and Marie Souter Encouragement Awards

Background:

The scholarship is intended to support an Australian resident student at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM) with limited financial means.

Open to: This scholarship is open to full-time undergraduates and limited to Australian residents as stipulated by the donor, commencing in the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Sydney.
  The scholarships are awarded to students who demonstrate academic merit evidenced by a combination of a minimum ATAR of 90 or equivalent and a minimum audition score of 80 assessed by audition/interview results.
  The scholarships include equity criteria and are open to students who have experienced financial or other disadvantage which has had a clear negative impact on their tertiary study
  Need undertaking by recipient that award is used towards payment of either: i) cost of study; ii) fees; iii) instrument purchase; iv) accommodation; or v) travel associated with additional study.

The Kirk Keating Scholarship for Saxophone

Background:

The scholarship is intended to support for one academic year for a first or second year student deemed to be in financial need and unable to afford tuition showing outstanding promise on saxophone.

Open to: Full-time first or second year local undergraduate or postgraduate students.
  Students who show outstanding promise on a Saxophone instrument.
  Candidates should demonstrate academic merit and financial disadvantage.

Hutchens-Evans Scholarship

Background:

The Hutchens-Evans Scholarship Fund was created to assist students to undertake study in music education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM). The scholarships are to assist the holder/s to undertake a course of study or other activity approved by the SCM as contributing to tuition fees, living expenses or the cost of a musical instrument.

Open to: Student must be a resident of New South Wales.
  Candidates should demonstrate academic merit evidenced by a combination of a minimum ATAR of 90 or equivalent and a minimum audition score of 80 assessed by audition/interview results.

The Vasanta Scholarship

Background:

The Vasanta Scholarship was established following the death of the late Marrianne Colinson for students studying Violin, Viola, Violoncello, Piano or Organ at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM).

Open to: Students who are eligible to enrol in full-time undergraduate degree course programs, majoring in violin, violoncello, piano or organ at the SCM.
  Candidates should demonstrate high academic merit evidenced by a combination of the minimum entry results required for degree courses at the SCM, and a minimum audition score of 80 assessed by audition/interview results. 
  Candidates are Australian citizens. 
  Preferences may be given to candidates from New South Wales.

The Kathleen E Armstrong Bequest

Background:

Established in 2000 from the estate of Kathleen Elizabeth Armstrong to establish the Kathleen E Armstrong scholarships to support students in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM).

Open to: Full-time (both domestic and international) undergraduate & postgraduate (both coursework and research) students commencing in the SCM. Priority may be accorded to different instruments in different years.
  Candidates should demonstrate academic merit evidenced by a combination of a minimum ATAR of 90 or equivalent and a minimum audition score of 80 assessed by audition/interview results. 
 Value:

Undergraduate: $6,000 per annum

Postgraduate coursework and research: $10,000 per annum

Undergraduate: the normal full-time duration of the recipient's degree program plus an additional Honours year.

Postgraduate coursework: the normal full-time duration of the recipient's degree program.

Postgraduate research: up to 3 year for full-time research doctorate studies or up to 2 year for full-time research masters.

The Layman Martin Harrison Scholarship

Background:

Established in 1973 from the estate of Layman Martin Harrison to recognise the excellence in performance of students at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (SCM) and to assist talented undergraduate or postgraduate students to undertake major study at the SCM.

Open to: Open to full-time (both domestic and international) undergraduate & postgraduate students commencing in the SCM. Priority may be accorded to different instruments in different years.
  Candidates should demonstrate academic merit evidenced by a combination of a minimum ATAR of 90 or equivalent and a minimum audition score of 80 assessed by audition/interview results. 
Value: Undergraduate: $6,000 per annum, Postgraduate: $10,000 per annum
