Do you remember Charles Birch?
Louis Charles Birch, Professor of biology for 25 years at the University of Sydney, left a lasting legacy to the university and to the field of ecology. Author of the famous 1954 book, The Distribution and Abundance of Animals, which was a bible for a generation of ecological students, he was also responsible for creating the School of Biological Sciences in 1962 by amalgamating the Schools of Botany and Zoology.
This year, the School of Biological Sciences honours the memory of Professor Birch (1918 – 2009) and the contribution he has made to generations of biologists.
We are collecting memories and photographs from anybody that knew Professor Birch and making them available on a tribute website for all to remember.
Help us to build a tribute to Professor Birch by sending in your memory to us. Visit the special website Back to Birch.
