Research: I am currently involved in research on naiveté and learning in the recognition of novel predators. I am also involved in research on chemical signal exploitation conducting experiments manipulating alien predator behaviour to protect native prey.

Research: Constraints and opportunities for the conservation of a critical weight range mammal in Sydney's suburbs
Six out of the eight species of bandicoots are either extinct or threatened, yet Long-nosed Bandicoots Parameles nasuta still occur in some suburban areas of Sydney. How they are able to remain in urban areas, full of domestic pets, cars and altered habitat is unclear. Using a range of techniques, including community surveys, trapping, radio-tracking and experimental habitat manipulations, we aim to find out how this critical weight range mammal survives in Manly on Sydney's northern beaches, and what is limiting its spread into other areas. A crucial element of the project involves engaging the local residents, through social media as well as direct involvement in research activities.
