The Molecular Ecology, Evolution, and Phylogenetics lab runs regular workshops, mainly on phylogenetics. Participation in these workshops is free, but registration is essential. Details of future workshops will be posted here. The next workshops on phylogenetics will probably be held at the University of Sydney in July 2015 and at Macquarie University in September 2015.

The MEEP laboratory held a free two-day workshop on phylogenetic analysis at the Australian National University. The workshop was supported by the Australian Bioinformatics Network and COMBINE.
This workshop provided an introduction to phylogenetic analysis, including practical exercises based on the software MEGA and BEAST. The content was designed to be suitable for graduate students and postdoctoral researchers at all levels of experience.
The first day covered interpreting phylogenetic trees, sequence alignment, evolutionary models, and phylogenetic methods. The second day focused on Bayesian phylogenetic analysis and included molecular clocks, estimating timescales, coalescent theory, and demographic reconstruction.
