Special Consideration

New regulations for Special Considerations have been implemented from 2004. If you miss a substantial part of a course through illness or other misadventure, you must complete the following tasks within 24 hours:

  1. Fill out a Special Consideration Form (SCF), including details of all units of study affected.
  2. Have your practitioner (usually a doctor) fill out the Professional Practitioners Certificate (PPC). (This means you will have to keep a blank copy of the PPC with you AT ALL TIMES in case of illness or misadventure!) Copies of the SCF and PPC are available from the Web - see below.
  3. Make sufficient copies of the completed SCF and PPC for all coordinators of affected units of study and one for your own records.
  4. Lodge the originals and copies with the Faculty of Science office within 24 hours of your return to University. The original and all copies will be stamped and dated by the Faculty and you must give the copies to your unit of study coordinators on the same day.
  5. Check your email for the outcome of your application, which should be sent within 14 days.

Note that you submit all Special Consideration Forms for all Biology units to the Faculty of Science office, regardless of the Faculty in which you are enrolled.

More information is available here at the Faculty web site.

Keep a copy of the forms and ALL documentation for your own records before you submit them.
