Available rental properties are listed on the two major online search sites below. Please note rental costs are indicated in per week amounts.

The rental market in Sydney can be fiercely competitive however there are a few tips that can make this easier for you.

  1. Collect and prepare all the information required to complete a rental application this includes:
    - Visa notification.
    - Previous bank statements.
    - Offer of Employment (letter and contract).
  2. You will require local referees, your future University colleagues or HR staff will be more than willing to vouch for you.
  3. Ensure you clearly identify yourself as a University of Sydney staff member.
  4. Research online and plan your property inspection carefully. You must inspect a property personally to be legally eligible to enter into a rental lease agreement.
  5. Ensure easy access to funds, enough to cover the security deposit (equivalent to 4 weeks rent).
