After graduation

Depending on your background and the areas in which you choose to study, a person with an environmental science qualification can be employed in a variety of jobs, ranging from analytical scientists and environmental indicator monitors to policy-makers and environmental or catchment managers. For example, you might be employed to undertake a survey of endangered species in a wilderness area slated for development or clearing, or to develop policy and management procedures for the allocation of scarce water resources in arid regions. Within Australia, our graduates have acquired jobs with federal, state and local government bodies including State Forests NSW, the Roads and Transport Authority, and the National Parks and Wildlife Service, as well as with private consultancies.
