The Division of Natural Sciences and the Unit for History and Philosophy of Science awards a limited number of vacation scholarships to be held during the summer vacation (December-February). These scholarships are usually advertised in September and are offered to high-performing undergraduate students. Preference will be given to students in their senior years or with some previous research experience (e.g. through the talented student program).
The aim is to enable interested students to carry out a short research project in HPS, with successful candidates supervised by an appropriate member of staff within the unit for HPS.
The research interests of the unit's members include: history and philosophy of modern physics, early modern science, philosophy of biology, history and philosophy of psychiatry, technoscience, philosophy and psychology of time. Candidates are advised to consult the Staff Pages for more information.
The scholarships come with a stipend of $473 per week with a further $250 to cover accommodation under special circumstances.
