Molecular Biology
Molecular Biology is an area of biochemistry that seeks to understand and unravel complex structures and the behaviour of living organisms by focusing on their molecular constitution. It focuses on the genome, the information store of the cell, and the products of genes, the proteins, which are the workhorses of the cell.
The BSc (MBG) provides a structured program in Molecular Biology. Although all units of study, except the guest seminar program, are also available within the BSc, the more competitive entry of the specialised degree offers many advantages. These include a concentrated learning environment and the development of enduring contacts as students are grouped with others of similar interests. BSc (MBG) students also have unique access to a guest seminar program in their first and third years that provides insights into the current work and developments of this exciting area.
