Bioinformatics is at the intersection of biochemistry, computer science and statistics. It is fundamental to accessing accumulating data and extracting biological information. Bioinformatics is a cornerstone of many modern high-throughput molecular studies, which means there is an increasing demand for Bioinformaticians worldwide. The School of Molecular Bioscience has a strong interest in bioinformatics research and the applications of its research discoveries. Our research encompasses the broad areas of microarrays and protein structural bioinformatics, and particularly as applied in the areas of structural proteomics and expression profiling of models of obesity.
