The Sydney Protein Group

The Sydney Protein Group is made up of protein scientists and students from academia, hospitals and industry.

We meet regularly to hear updates from local and overseas speakers on the latest developments in protein science and related fields.

Scholarships and prizes are also provided to enable young scientists to attend key protein related meetings in Australia.

Thompson Prize event 2016 will be held at the University of Wollongong - APPLICATIONS DUE ON 8/11/16
Some of the SPG's best work will again be showcased at the annual Thompson Prize event! This year's event will be held during the day (to ensure sufficient travel time) at the University of Wollongong on Tuesday the 22th of November, kindly hosted by Dr Justin Yerbury and Dr Heath Ecroyd. It will be in room 32.G01 at the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMR) building and will start at 11am with subsequent lunch ~1pm. The IHMRI is on the UOW main campus (for options on how to get to UOW see http://www.uow.edu.au/transport/index.html). A campus map showing the location of building 32, and the nearest ticketed parking is located here.In addition to the Thompson Prize, we will also award the Lorne Travel Awards, which help students to attend the Lorne Protein or Proteomics conference. SPG has appointed new secretary
SPG has appointed Jason Low from the University of Sydney as the new secretary as Dr Chu-Kong Liew is resigning from this position by the end of this year. We thank Chu-Kong for his extensive contributions that he has made over many years! [Posted 30th November, 2015]
