RV Linckia II is a well-equipped 11 m vessel. This boat is ideal for work in and outside of the lagoon and around the Capricorn-Bunker Group of the GBRMP. It can be used for research projects involving overnight deployments. This vessel can only be hired with skipper.
RV Orcinus II is a new (2011) 5.9 m aluminium pontoon boat with twin 60 HP motors for work in and out of the lagoon and transfers between One Tree Island and Heron Island. You will need a Coxswain (endorsed for the Capricorn Bunker area) ticket to hire this boat, otherwise you need to hire it with a skipper.
One Tree Island has the following boats that are available to visitors at no additional fees, providing that they hold a nationally recognised recreational BOAT LICENSE (please note that only the first fuel caddy, 24 L, is included in the bench fees):
- Punts: 2 x 3.6m aluminium flat bottom boats for use in lagoon with 9.9 hp outboard: included in bench fees. PAX 2
- Sea Star/Sea Horse: 3.9m aluminium pontoon boats for use in lagoon and outside, up to 500m from the reef edge, with 9.9hp and 25hp and 30HP outboards: included in bench fees. PAX 6
- Sea Breeze: 4.1 m aluminium pontoon boat with canopy for use in lagoon and outside, up to 500m from the reef edge, with 9.9hp and 25hp and 30HP outboards: included in bench fees. PAX 5
