One Tree Island Research Station has a limited permit for education. This means that only advanced education (i.e. senior or postgraduate students) are allowed to visit the island in groups with a maximum of 20 students. Ratios expected are at least one educator per 10 students.
The University of Sydney runs a few courses that include field trips to One Tree Island:
- GEOS3009 - Coastal Processes and Environments
- MARS5006 - Coral Reefs, Science and Management
- MARS5007 - Coral Reefs and Climate Change
You can also choose a honours project studying OTI, please check our researchers and contact them directly.
Other universities are welcome to use our facilities and run their courses there as far as they intend to do advanced education programs only. Please contact us for further details.
