Biographical details

Frances Houwing has graduated with a PhD and Master of Clinical Psychology from Macquarie University. After working as a postdoctoral researcher at Macquarie University, she joined the School of Psychology at The University of Sydney in 2016 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate.

She also works as a psychologist at the Centre for Emotional Health Clinic at Macquarie University.

Research interests

Frances’ research is focussed on understanding ways to promote child wellbeing, and her research tends to examine interactions between parents and children. One of her research interests is understanding the cognitive and social factors that influence parents' use of particular discipline practices with young children. Another research interest of hers is understanding the factors that contribute to emotional health problems in children and adolescents.

Current projects

She is currently working on the following project, 'Like Father Like Son: A National Approach to Violence, Antisocial Behaviour, and the Mental Health of Men and Boys'.
