Biographical details

Frans Verstraten (MSc Nijmegen 1990, PhD Utrecht 1994) is the McCaughey Chair of Psychology at the University of Sydney and the current Head of School. He is the president of the Vision Sciences Society, world's largest association for vision scientists. He is one of the chief editors of the journals Perception and i-Perception.

Research interests

Research interests include

  • Sensory systems: motion perception, motion adaptation, optic flow, attention & search, binocular vision, and time perception.
  • Applied vision science and cognitive ergonomics.
  • Perceptual aspects of advertising & marketing communication.
  • History of cognitive (neuro)science.
