Biographical details

Irina Kabakova received her MasterÕs degree (with Honours) from Lomonosov Moscow State University in Russia. She then moved to Sydney, Australia, and joined CUDOS in 2008 as a PHD candidate. Irina has submitted her PhD thesis in August 2011 and currently continues to work in CUDOS as Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

Research interests

Her PhD work was focused on nonlinear effects in dielectric periodic media, in particular Bragg gratings. IrinaÕs field of expertise features design, fabrication and nonlinear propagation experiments in complex Bragg gratings in fiber or planar geometries. Her recent activity is related to interaction between optical and acoustic waves in highly-nonlinear photonic structures and waveguides.
