Biographical details

Mahdis is a veterinarian and researcher in infectious diseases. She has experience with diseases of domestic and wild animals in the UK and in Australia. She has recently completed her PhD at the University of Queensland and has joined Professor Julia Beatty’s Laboratory to continue her research adventures on feline and canine viral diseases.

Research interests

Oncogenic viruses, feline and canine infectious disease, feline lymphoma, wildlife diseases, zoonoses.

Teaching and supervision

Daily supervision of PhD, Masters, honours and visiting students in the lab.

Current projects

· Application of next generation sequencing for discovery of new viruses infeline immunodeficiency virus (FIV)-associated lymphoma

· Canine oncogenic virus discovery

· Cardiopulmonary nematodes of Australian canids and felids
