Biographical details

Marin completed her Masters in Exercise Physiology at the University of Texas at Austin in the lab of Prof. John Ivy, and her PhD in Pharmacology at the University of Virginia in the lab of Dr. Kyle Hoehn. Her PhD was focussed on the process by which glucose is converted to lipid in the liver, and how this impacted liver function and whole body metabolism. After completing her PhD she began as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Sydney in the lab of Prof. David James to investigate how genetic and environmental factors such as diet and exercise impact tissue metabolism and insulin sensitivity.

Current projects

Identifying markers of insulin resistance across diverse diets and genetic backgrounds.

The role of AMPK signaling in skeletal muscle function and metabolism during exercise.

The role of adipose tissue lipid synthesis in whole-body glucose homeostasis.
