Biographical details

I am currently a postdoctoral research associate at the Brain Dynamics Group within the Complex Systems Group where I investigate the formation of ocular-dominance columns and the orientation-sensitive cell assemblies in the primary visual cortex by using neural field theory. From 2016 to 2017 I was an adjunct fellow at the MARCS Institute (Western Sydney University) where I have been investigating the probabilistic behavior of neural networks by using computer modelling. From 2013 to 2016 I was a postdoctoral fellow at the CSIRO where I have been experimentally investigating the chemical and physical properties of single-walled carbon nanotubes for the application in nanochromatography. In 2013, I received my PhD in Physics from the University of Sydney. My PhD research was mainly studying both theoretically and experimentally the electron tunneling in networks of disordered gold nanoparticles and their optical property. I completed my Honors in 2009 at the School of Physics (The University of Sydney) where I theoretically studied the quantum computation in circuit quantum electrodynamics. From 2002 to 2009 I have been working in the Argus Technologies (Taken over by CommScope) where I have been designing mobile base station antennas using CST Microwave Studio software.

Research interests

I am interested in the brain dynamics and I am specifically interested to understand how our brain creates a deterministic perception of the outside world whereas individual neurons behave probabilistically at the molecular level.

Current projects

I am currently investigating the formation of ocular-dominance columns and the orientation-sensitive cell assemblies in the primary visual cortex. This is a multidisciplinary project which is funded by ARC under the laureate fellowship program of Professor Peter Robinson in the Brain Dynamics Group within the Complex Systems Group.
