Research interests

My main research interest is the placebo effect, particularly how the psychosocial context surrounding the treatment can influence the degree of placebo response. I also have an interest in how factors such as informed consent and the characteristics of the treatment can influence non-specific medication side effects. In a similar theme to these research areas, I am also interested in the descending modulation of pain, specifically how expectations and the context of a pain stimulus can alter the experience of pain.
