Admission requirements for international students

Master of Photonics and Optical Science

International applicants for the Master of Photonics and Optical Science must have:

Academic requirements
English language requirements
  • a Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering with a major in Physics from the University of Sydney or equivalent, with a credit average or equivalent
  • IELTS: overall band score of 6.5 or better with no band below 6.0; OR
  • IBT: overall score of 90 with a writing section minimum of 23, and no other band below 22

Graduate Diploma in Photonics and Optical Science

International applicants for the Graduate Diploma in Photonics and Optical Science must have:

Academic requirements
English language requirements
  • a Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering with a major in Physics from the University or Sydney or equivalent
  • IELTS: overall band score of 6.5 or better with no band below 6.0; OR
  • IBT: overall score of 90 with a writing section minimum of 23, and no other band below 22
