Compensation of fiber nonlinearity by an end-span pre-distortion and phase conjugation module

Abstract
We demonstrate compensation of optical fiber nonlinearity by a novel end-span scheme. Operation on a 40Gbit/sec RZ-DPSK signal before a 190 km link pre-compensates self phase modulation to improve the BER power penalty by >3.5dB.
