Undergraduate Scholarships

The School of Physics annually awards over $80,000 in scholarships and prizes to students in Junior, Intermediate and Senior Physics. These scholarships and prizes are eagerly sought by our students and provide a real incentive to continue with the study of Physics.

Intermediate Physics

Up to two scholarships to be awarded annually on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Physics to the most proficient students in Intermediate Physics provided that their work is of sufficient merit and they enrol in at least 12 credit points of Senior Physics. $800

The University of Sydney Physics Foundation Scholarships No 2

Intermediate Physics

Up to five scholarships to be awarded annually, on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Physics for proficiency in Intermediate Physics, provided that their work is of sufficient merit and that the student enrols in at least 12 credit points of Senior Physics. $800

Deas - Thomson Scholarship For Physics

Senior Physics

Awarded annually by the Dean of the Faculty of Science, on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Physics, to the student in either the Faculty of Arts or the Faculty of Science who demonstrates the greatest proficiency in Senior Physics, provided their work is of sufficient merit. The student is required to enrol in Physics Honours at the University. $6500

School of Physics - Julius Sumner Miller Scholarships for Academic Excellence No 3

Senior Physics

Up to two scholarships to be awarded annually on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Physics to the most proficient students in Senior Physics provided that their work is of sufficient merit and they enrol in Physics Honours. $3000

The University of Sydney Physics Foundation Scholarships No 3

Senior Physics

Up to five scholarships to be awarded annually, on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Physics for proficiency in Senior Physics, provided that their work is of sufficient merit and that the student enrols in Physics Honours. $3000

Walter Burfitt Scholarship No. II

Senior Physics

Awarded annually, on the recommendation of the Head of the School of Physics, for proficiency in Senior Physics in the Faculty of Science. The scholar shall be required to pursue the study of Physics Honours. $750

The Malcolm Turki Memorial Scholarship

The Scholarship is open to students who have completed a major in Physics and wish to complete the Honours year.

The Scholarship shall be awarded to a student who is a citizen of Australia. Scholarship shall be awarded on the basis of academic merit and demonstrated financial need. $1700

Complex System Scholarship

Undergraduate Physics

The Complex Systems Group in the School of Physics is offering one or more undergraduate scholarships each year with members of the Group for research in brain dynamics, plasma physics (especially complex dusty and nonlinear plasmas), space physics, and related topics involving complex systems.
