Science Teachers' Workshops

Teachers Workshop

The Science Teachers' Workshops program for senior science teachers is a highly successful Physics Foundation initiative to help teachers expand their science knowledge base. Now run by the Faculty of Science, the program includes workshops in physics as well as agriculture, biological science, chemistry, earth and environmental science, and geography.

The two-day workshops have been running every two years since 1984 and are open to high-school teachers in NSW and the ACT. Up to 140 teachers enjoy a packed program of lectures highlighting cutting-edge science research and a choice of hands-on workshops that cover a range of science concepts and teaching strategies. The program also provides a valuable opportunity for teachers and scientists to discuss and debate the more challenging aspects of the science curriculum.

The program is accredited by the the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW for 10 professional learning hours.
