How do I apply to study psychology in Summer School?
Applications and enrolments in Summer School are overseen by the Summer School Office. You will find details about applying to study in Summer School at the Summer School website.
Where do I find information about the timetable, textbook, assessment, etc?
All information relating to the timetable, assessment, textbook, etc. is available on the Summer School website. Search for either PSYC1001 or PSYC1002 in the course search function.
Can I study both PSYC1001 and PSYC1002 in Summer School?
Studying both PSYC1001 and PSYC1002 during the intensive Summer School period is extremely demanding.
Only if the applicant has previously completed an undergraduate degree AND is of exceptional academic ability may permission be granted for both PSYC1001 and PSYC1002 to be completed in Summer School. Permission can only be obtained from the Head of the School of Psychology and is rarely given.
If you can demonstrate an outstanding academic record and that you have been awarded a degree, and would like to complete both PSYC1001 and PSYC1002 during Summer School, please write a letter of application explaining the reasons for wishing to complete both Units of Study in Summer School and attach your CV and certified copies of your academic transcript(s). Send these documents to:

When assessing your application, both your undergraduate record and ATAR (or equivalent) will be taken into account. Students who require both Units of Study for further study (e.g. the Graduate Diploma in psychology) are encouraged to complete PSYC1002 during Summer School, and PSYC1001 in the regular March semester.
The timetable for the psychology subject I want to study clashes with another subject I want to study in Summer School. What should I do?
Students are expected to attend 80% of all timetabled activities. It is our view that students who attend less than 80% will struggle greatly to pass. Poor attendance cannot form the basis of a special consideration claim. In the 2011 Online Faculty of Science handbook it states: The Dean or the Head of School most concerned may determine that a student has failed a unit of study because of inadequate attendance.
Due to the relatively small number of students in Summer School, it is not possible to offer “repeats” of classes.
The School of Psychology discourages students from taking subjects that have timetable clashes, because we want students to do their best in the courses and also because it is not possible to change class times to suit individual students with clashes.
