Institute for Teaching and Learning (ITL)
The ITL works with the University community to enhance, research and help assure the quality of teaching and student learning. The ITL sends all academics new to the University a resource pack to support their teaching.

ITL offer staff development and training sessions throughout the year, which you can view on the Programs and Courses section of their website.

Sydney eLearning
Sydney eLearning provides project management and educational design support to faculties, and supports individual staff and their students through the central eLearning helpdesk.

Sydney eLearning offers support for staff who are involved in a university course that offers (or intends to offer) an eLearning site for students. For more information visit the staff support section of the eLearning website.

The WiSci Project
The Women in Science Project is sponsored by the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney and offers Family Friendly Fellowships.


Tutor and Demonstrator Development Program
This training session runs at the beginning of semester one each year. This program is overseen by the Director of Teaching and Learning in the Faculties of Science.

Graduate Development and Leadership Program
This program is currently under development.

Teaching Tips Seminars
These seminars are designed to encourage sharing of ideas and best practice across the Faculty of Science. The emphasis in these informal, 30 - 40 minutes sessions is on practical steps for improving and enhancing our teaching.

Unit of Study Outline Template
To ensure compliance with the University's Assessment policy and consistency across the Faculty, an online template is used to construct a unit of study outline for embedding within the unit website on the Learning Management System.

Assessment Policy Resources
Details on the new Assessment Policy and on plans for implementation in the Faculty. A resource pack of exemplar marking grids and assessment criteria, pro-formas for setting exam papers and an analyis tool is also provided.

Institute for Innovation in Science & Mathematics Education (IISME)
IISME offers a seminar series, plus International Journal of Innovation in Science and Mathematics Education – which has interesting articles and is also an avenue for publication for academics.

Learning and Teaching at the University of Sydney
Staff interested in learning and teaching in a University-wide context can visit the University of Sydney Learning and Teaching Site. Here you will find information on governance, planning, quality enhancement, evaluation and teaching matters. You will also find information here on Teaching and Academic Promotion.

This online bulletin keeps teaching staff abreast of teaching and learning news and events. It also contains an awards and grants calendar with submission requirements and closing dates. Teaching@Sydney is produced courtesy of the Institute for Teaching and Learning.

The Write Site
The Write Site is a collaborative project between the Humanities and Social Sciences and the Learning Centre and is an initiative of Sydney eLearning. The Write Site is designed to support the development of academic writing competencies of students and features a staff guide.

Faculty Liaison Librarians
Faculty Liaison Librarians are specialist information professionals. They can assist you to embed information and research skills training in the curriculum and develop new course proposals by providing Library Impact Statements. You can contact a Science Faculty Liaison Librarian for an appointment, to ask a question, or make a suggestion.
