Review: Hookeís Law is a simple program that illustrates, well ..., Hookeís Law. The user drags and drops weights onto a spring, and the program then plots points on an extension versus applied mass graph. The user may then join the dots together to illustrate the linear relationship between force and extension, and calculate the spring constant. The spring constant may be altered. Several lines can be plotted on the one graph for comparison. Hookeís Law is simple and easy to use. It could be used by students or as a five minute lecture demonstration. One might like more out of the program, such as a plot of potential energy versus extension, but it is still a useful little program. However, being written in 1987, it wonít run on system 7.+.
