Next lesson
Activity
Plan, choose equipment and/or resources for and perform a first-hand investigation and gather information to model the inverse square law for light intensity and distance from the source. A data logger and an electronic light meter may be used to record light intensity over a range of distances from a source.
Key physical concepts
  • Inverse square law was first proposed by Johannes Kepler
  • The intesity I of light from a source, which radiates in all directions, falls with the inverse of the square of the distance d from the source.
