Light

Light is an electromagnetic wave. It consists of electric and magnetic fields, which are at right angles to each other and which are oscillating at right angles to the direction of propogation. It is a transverse wave and travels without any medium.

The speed of light in a vacuum is 3 hundred thousand kilomteres per hour, or 3 x 108 m/s. Light travels more slowly in a medium, like water, than it does in air or a vacuum. The more dense, the slower the speed.

Light carries energy. Higher frequencies carry more energy.
