
- Any maps of your study area
- Species lists if you have previously prepared them
- Blank paper (waterproof if possible)
- Data sheets (waterproof if possible)
- Clipboard or equivalent to write on
- A magnifying glass or camera would be useful but are not essential
- Tape measures or previously measured bits of string to map the habitat and/or mark out large quadrats
- Small quadrats made previously
- Pencils, erasers, pencil sharpeners, chalk
- Tent pegs for marking the positions of samples or the corners of large quadrats
- A bag to carry all your equipment
- Appropriate shoes, i.e. joggers on the seashore, walking boots or joggers in bushland not bare feet or sandals
- Appropriate clothing, i.e. hat and rain jacket in summer plus a jumper in winter
- Salt with which to remove leeches
- Sun cream
A small Dictaphone type of tape recorder is useful, especially if there are only a few of you
