About us
The University of Sydney Secretariat is located within the portfolio of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) and Registrar.
University Secretariat staff are responsible for providing professional secretariat support for the University’s major governance committees. Detailed information on the University Secretariat's governance functions can be accessed via the Governance functions tab above.
In summary, the University Secretariat:
- documents the decision-making processes of the Senate and Academic Board, their standing committees and sub-committees according to the University of Sydney Act 1989 (as amended) and the relevant by-laws, rules and resolutions
- communicates new and revised Senate and Academic Board policies
- coordinates and administers Senate and Academic Board meetings and elections
- coordinates and administers committee meetings
The University Secretariat:
- reports to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Education) and Registrar
- supports the position of Chair, Academic Board
- works with the Secretary to Senate in relation to Senate and the Academic Board
