Elections for staff and student members

The Rule requires faculties and University schools to set up faculty boards and University school boards, and calls for the election of staff and/or students to fill positions on these bodies.

A faculty board or a University school board is responsible for academic decision-making. It includes ex-officio members, elected academic staff, elected or appointed professional staff and elected student members, as advised below.

A faculty or a University school is a consultative forum that can, for example, receive and consider reports on academic matters and make recommendations on academic matters to the faculty board/University school board.

In 2019, the following elections will be conducted:

  • the election of academic and professional staff members of the faculty board for all faculties for a two (2) year term of office commencing on 1 January 2020 through 31 December 2021; and
  • the election of student members of all faculties, faculty boards, University schools and University school boards for a one (1) year term of office commencing on 1 January 2020 through 31 December 2020.

The conduct of all of these elections is governed by the Election Procedures 2017.
