The Hon Sir Victor Windeyer CBE CB DSO ED was a Fellow of Senate elected by the graduates from 1949 to 1959. Senate elected him Deputy Chancellor from 1954 to 1958.

Sir Victor Windeyer was born in 1900. He was admitted to the NSW Bar in 1925 and appointed KC in 1949. He was a Judge from 1958 to 1972.

In World War II as Lt Colonel, he commanded Sydney University Regiment and 2/48 Battalion AIF and, as Brigadier, the 20th Australian Infantry Brigade AIF. He was awarded the DSO and bar, and was three times mentioned in dispatches. He was promoted to Major-General and commanded the 2nd Division CMF from 1950 to 1952. PC (1963).

He was a Fellow of Senate from 1949 to 1959 and Deputy Chancellor from 1954 to 1958.

He died in 1987.
