Honorary awards

Dr Aubrey Halloran OBE

The honorary degree of Doctor of Laws was conferred upon Dr Aubrey Halloran OBE, BA LLB, FRAHS FRZS FTPA, a Sydney solicitor, on 3 October 1961.


Dr Halloran was educated at this University and admitted as a solicitor in 1895. Dr Halloran has given a lifetime of professional and community service. His many activities have included Past President and a Fellow of the Royal Australian Historical Society, Past President of the Royal Zoological Society and a Vice Patron and Fellow, Past President and Patron of the International Society of Australia, Past President and Patron of the Good Neighbour Council and of the English Speaking Union, Life Member and Fellow of the Town Planning Association. Dr Halloran was an Army Education Lecturer during the whole of the last war and co-operated with the Royal Motor Yacht Club in instructing young men in the Navy. Amongst his many charitable works he has been President and Vice Patron of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children and Vice Patron of the Royal Overseas League.
