At a conferring of degrees ceremony held in the Great Hall on 18 May 1983, the centenary year of the Faculty of Engineering, the honorary degree of Doctor of Engineering was conferred upon Peter Owen Miller AM, BE Sydney, FIEAust FIArb FAIM, director of Miller, Milston and Ferris (Engineers) Pty Ltd; Chairman, National Building and Construction Council and Australian Building Specification Pty Ltd; and President-elect, International Federation of Consulting Engineers.
