Honorary awards
The Rt Hon Christopher Francis Patten
At a ceremony on 21 April 2001, the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters was conferred on the Rt Hon Chris Patten, External Relations Commissioner of the European Union and former Governor of Hong Kong, by the Chancellor Dame Leonie Kramer AC DBE. The award took place at a formal celebration dinner in the Great Hall at which Mr Patten delivered the occasional lecture on 'The challenges of governance in a global economy'.
