The degree of Doctor of Medicine (honoris causa) was conferred upon Professor Rodney Phillip Shearman AO, MD BS DGO, FRCOG FRACOG, at a conferring of degrees ceremony in 1993.

Professor Shearman was Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Head of the Department from 1968.
