Emeritus Professor Arthur Dale Trendall

Emeritus Professor Arthur Dale Trendall, CMG KCSG, MA Cambridge MA LittD New Zealand LittD Cambridge, Melbourne & ANU, DLitt Adelaide, FSA FAHA FBA, was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters on 3 June 1972.

Professor Trendall was Professor of Greek (1939-1954) and Professor of Archaeology (1948-1954), Dean of the Faculty of Arts (1947-1950), Chairman of the Professorial Board (1949-1950, 1952-1954) and Acting Vice-Chancellor (1953) in the University of Sydney.

He was Master, University House, Australian National University from 1954 to 1969 and Member, Australian Universities Commission from 1959 to 1970.
