Honorary awards

Dr Nanette Stacy Waddy MBE

At a conferring of degrees ceremony held in the Great Hall on 30 April 1988, the honorary degree of Doctor of Medicine was conferred upon Dr Nanette Stacy Waddy MBE.

Dr Waddy was a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists with a special interest in community psychiatry and the problem of the abuse of drugs and alcohol. Before her retirement she held the position of Psychiatrist with the Central Drug and Alcohol Advisory Service in the Sydney inner-metropolitan Health Region. She had been a member of the Council of the University of NSW and was an Honorary Visiting Fellow to their School of Community Medicine.

Two months later, in June 1988, Dr Waddy was made a Campanion in the Order of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours List, for service to medical education and to the community, particularly in the field of drug and alcohol abuse.
