His Excellency Sir Ronald Walker CBE

Distinguished economist His Excellency Sir Ronald Walker CBE, MA Sydney PhD LittD Camb, was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Science in Economics at a conferring of degrees ceremony in the Great Hall on 2 October 1973.

Sir Ronald was visiting Australia after having spent almost 25 years abroad as Australian Ambassador. He was then Special Advisor to the Australian Government on Multi-National Corporations. Sir Ronald was Professor of Economics in the University of Tasmania 1939-46, economic adviser to the NSW Treasurer in 1938-39 and to the Tasmanian Government in 1939-42, and Australian Ambassador to Germany, France, the United Nations, Japan, and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.
