Fellow of Senate, 1 December 2013 –

Andrew West is a presenter on ABC Radio National, where he currently hosts and produces "The Religion & Ethics Report". Before becoming a broadcaster, he was a senior reporter at The Sydney Morning Herald, The Sun-Herald and The Australian, and is the author of Bob Carr: A Self Made Man (Harper Collins, 2003) and a satirical study of class in Australia, Inside The Lifestyles of the Rich and Tasteful (Macmillan/Pluto, 2006). His study of Kevin Rudd's faith was chosen for The Best Australian Political Writing (MUP, 2008), and his work has appeared in leading international publications, including The New York Times, The South China Morning Post, The Monthly, and The Christian Science Monitor, where he was a contributing correspondent. In 2009 he presented and produced The New Politics for the ABC. He has worked in Washington DC as an editor and reporter, and is a graduate of the University of Sydney (BA Hons., government and modern history) and Columbia University in New York City (MS), which he attended on an International Rotary Foundation Ambassadorial Scholarship.
