Chancellor
The Chancellor is elected by the Senate for a four year term of office to chair Senate meetings and to facilitate its work and collegiality, providing a focal point to ensure the high standing of the University in the wider community.
An official Fellow of Senate, the Chancellor is Chair of Senate.
Current Chancellor (and Fellow of Senate)
- Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, Governor of New South Wales, was elected by Senate as Chancellor of The University of Sydney for a four year term from 1 June 2007, and has been re-elected for a new term of office commencing on 1 June 2011.
