Set out below are non-confidential decisions made by:

A

  • Annual Report
    – Senate approved the formal section of the University's 2013 Annual Report and approved the 2013 Financial Statements.

C

  • Committees of Senate
    – Senate waived the two term limit where
    (1) Chairs of the Buildings and Estates, Finance and Audit, Human Resources, Investment and Commercialisation, and Safety and Risk Management Committees wish to recommend that Senate appoint for a third term a person who has already served two terms;
    (2) any of the individuals who have already served two terms on the Chair Appointments and the Nominations and Appointments Committees wish to stand for election for a third term.
    – Senate congratulated
    (1) Mr Alec Brennan on his re-election as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.
    (2) Mr Robert Leece on his re-election as Chair of the Buildings and Estates Committee.
    (3) Mr David Mortimer on his re-election as Chair of the Investment and Commercialisation Committee.

  • Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning
    – Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty:
    (1) to introduce the Bachelor of Architecture and Environments and Bachelor of Architecture and Environments (Honours);
    (2) to introduce the Master of Architectural Science, Graduate Diploma in Architectural Science and Graduate Certificate in Architectural Science;
    (3) to delete the Master of Design Science, Graduate Diploma in Design Science and Graduate Certificate in Design Science;
    (4) to delete the Master of Facilities Management, Graduate Diploma in Facilities Management and Graduate Certificate in Facilities Management;
    (5) to introduce the Master of Urbanism and Graduate Diploma in Urbanism;
    and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty with effect from 1 January 2015.
  • Faculty of Dentistry
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty to rename the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Medicine/Oral Pathology) to become the Doctor of Clinical Dentistry (Oral Medicine); and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty with effect from 1 January 2015.
  • Faculty of Education and Social Work
    – Senate appointed Professor Jenny Gore, Head of the School of Education at the University of Newcastle, to be the external member of Deanship Selection Committee.
  • Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty to amend the Bachelor of Engineering degree from the Bachelor of Engineering (stream) to the Bachelor of Engineering Honours (stream); and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty with effect from 1 January 2015.
  • Amendments to existing courses
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of a range of minor amendments to existing courses as set out in the report, with effect from 1 January 2015.

  • International House Council
    – The Committee, under delegated authority, approved the following appointments to the International House Council for the terms indicated:
    (1) Clause 7 (a)(ii) (bb), Three persons who shall be members of Rotary International, each appointed for three years one of whom shall retire each year: Ms Pam Pritchard (to 31 December 2016)
    (2) Clause 7 (a)(ii) (cc), One person nominated by SUIH Alumni Association appointed annually: Mr Joshua Lee (to 31 December 2014)
    (3) Clause 7 (a)(ii) dd), Three persons nominated by SUIH Members Association appointed annually: Ms T Bennetts, Ms Mai Phuong Nguyen and Ms Bo Yun Lu (to 31 December 2014)

  • Pro-Chancellor
    – Senate endorsed the appointment of Mr Robert Leece AM RFD as Pro-Chancellor to 28 February 2015, when Mr Leece’s current term of office as a Fellow of Senate concludes

    – Senate adopted the schedule of meetings in 2015 set out in the report presented
