Senate made the following non-confidential decisions at its meeting held on 6 May 2013.

The Nominations and Appointments Committee made the following non-confidential decisions on 26 April 2013 under delegated authority from Senate.


F

  • Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences - with effect from 1 January 2014:
    Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of proposals from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences:
    – to delete the Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) (Honours), the Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) (Honours) / MBBS and the combined Bachelor of Political, Economic and Social Sciences / Bachelor of Laws and
    – to introduce the Master of Art Curating, Graduate Diploma in Art Curating, Graduate Certificate in Art Curating, Master of English Studies, Graduate Diploma in English Studies, Graduate Certificate in English Studies, Master of Museum and Heritage Studies, Graduate Diploma in Museum and Heritage Studies and Graduate Certificate in Museum and Heritage Studies
    and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
  • Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences - with effect from 1 January 2015:
    Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of proposals from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences
    – to amend the Master of Cultural Studies, Graduate Diploma in Cultural Studies, Graduate Certificate in Cultural Studies, Master of Health Communication, Graduate Diploma in Health Communication, Graduate Certificate in Health Communication, Master of Political Economy, Graduate Diploma in Political Economy, Graduate Certificate in Political Economy, Master of Publishing, Graduate Diploma in Publishing, Graduate Certificate in Publishing, Master of Strategic Public Relations, Graduate Diploma in Strategic Public Relations and Graduate Certificate in Strategic Public Relations
    and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
  • Faculty of Health Sciences:
    Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty of Health Sciences
    – to introduce the Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography) and the Bachelor of Applied Science (Diagnostic Radiography) Honours and to delete the Bachelor of Applied Science (MRS) Diagnostic Radiography and the Bachelor of Applied Science (MRS) Diagnostic Radiography Honours
    and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Health Sciences with effect from 1 January 2014.
  • Faculty of Medicine:
    Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty of Medicine
    – to delete the Graduate Diploma in Public Health
    and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Medicine with effect from 1 January 2015.
  • Faculty of Veterinary Science:
    Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty of Veterinary Science
    – to introduce the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and the Bachelor of Veterinary Biology/Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and to delete the Bachelor of Veterinary Science
    and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Veterinary Science with effect from 1 January 2014.

  • Law Extension Committee:
    The Nominations and Appointments Committee, under delegated authority, approved the appointment of the following to membership of the Law Extension Committee in the category of ‘Four persons appointed by Senate’ for a term of office to conclude on 30 November 2014:
    – Honorary Professor Roslyn Arnold
    – Professor Ann Brewer
    – Professor Tyrone Carlin
    – Mrs Daphne Kok

  • Minor Course Amendments:
    – Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of a range of minor amendments to existing courses, with effect from 1 January 2014, relating to the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, the Board of Studies in Indigenous Studies and the University of Sydney Business School.

  • Research Code of Conduct:
    – Senate, noting the new Research Code of Conduct, rescinded the current Code of Conduct for Responsible Research Practice and Guidelines for Dealing with Allegations of Research Misconduct with effect from 26 May 2013.

  • Fellows of Senate:
    – Senate recorded its appreciation for the significant contributions made by retiring Fellows Ms Kim Wilson, Professor Dick Bryan and Associate Professor Ariadne Vromen.

  • University of Sydney (Coursework) Rule 2003 (as amended):
    – Senate approved the amendment of the University of Sydney (Coursework) Rule 2003 (as amended) with effect from 10 May 2013.
  • University of Sydney (Higher Degree by Research) Rule 2011:
    – Senate approved the amendment of the University of Sydney (Higher Degree by Research) Rule 2011 with effect from 10 May 2013.
