Decisions of Senate

Senate made the following decisions at its meeting held in open session on 21 June 2010:

Faculty of Economics and Business:
Senate resolved:
(1) to endorse the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty of Economics and Business to amend the Bachelor of Economics, Bachelor of Economics/Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Economics/Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery; and
(2) to approve the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the courses;
with effect from 1 January 2011, as set out in the report presented.

Faculty of Education and Social Work:
Senate resolved
(1) to endorse the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty of Education and Social Work to introduce the Master of Social Work (Qualifying);
(2) to approve the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Education and Social Work; and
(3) to approve the introduction of the Resolutions of Senate related to the course;
with effect from 1 January 2011, as set out in the report presented.

Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies:
Senate resolved
(1) to endorse the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies to:
(a) introduce the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Bioelectronics)
(b) rename the Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering) to the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Computer Engineering)
(c) rename the Bachelor of Engineering (Telecommunications) to the Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) (Telecommunications); and
(2) to approve the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Bachelor of Engineering;
with effect from 1 January 2011, as set out in the report presented.

Faculty of Health Sciences:
Senate resolved:
(1) to endorse the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty of Health Sciences to introduce the Master of Molecular Imaging;
(2) to approve the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Health Sciences; and
(3) to approve the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to Masters degrees in the Faculty of Health Sciences;
with effect from 1 January 2011, as set out in the report presented.

International House Council:
Senate appointed Ms Ji-Hyun Kim (IHMA Treasurer) to membership of the International House Council in the category of “Three persons nominated by SUIH Members Association appointed annually” from 1 July to 31 December 2010, to replace Ms M Khilani.

Sydney University Medical Society:
Senate approved the changes to the Constitution of the Sydney University Medical Society as specified in the report presented.

Sydney University Sport:
Senate resolved to recommend a change to Sydney University Sport's proposal to amend its constitution.

University of Sydney (Delegations of Authority – Administrative Functions) Rule 2010:
Senate resolved to make the University of Sydney (Delegations of Authority – Administrative Functions) Rule 2010 as set out in the report presented, with some minor amendments, to commence on 25 June 2010, and to supersede and revoke the previous ‘Delegations of Authority – Administrative Functions’, and all earlier delegations of authority for administrative functions.
