Senate made the following non-confidential decisions at its meeting held on 1 July 2013:


B

  • Board of Studies in Indigenous Studies - deletion of Constitution
    Senate approved, with immediate effect:
    – the disestablishment of the Board of Studies in Indigenous Studies;
    – the deletion of the Senate Resolutions relating to the Constitution of the Board of Studies in Indigenous Studies and the list of degrees, diplomas and certificates of the Board of Studies in Indigenous Studies; and
    – the amendment of the Senate Resolutions relating to the list of degrees, diplomas and certificates in the Faculty of Education and Social Work.

  • Chair Appointments Committee - membership
    Senate noted that Mr Patrick Massarani had been declared elected to membership of the Committee, the term to conclude at the Senate meeting in May 2014.

    Senate
    (1) endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of proposals from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences:
    – to delete the Master of Art Curatorship; Graduate Diploma in Art Curatorship; Graduate Certificate in Art Curatorship; Master of Arts; Graduate Diploma in Arts; Graduate Certificate in Arts; Master of Asian Studies; Graduate Diploma in Asian Studies; Graduate Certificate in Asian Studies; Master of European Studies; Graduate Diploma in European Studies; Graduate Certificate in European Studies; Master of Film Studies; Graduate Diploma in Film Studies; Graduate Certificate in Film Studies; Master of Museum Studies; Graduate Diploma in Museum Studies; Graduate Certificate in Museum Studies; Master of Translation Studies and Graduate Diploma in Translation Studies;

    Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of a proposal from the Faculty to amend the Faculty Resolutions and the course resolutions for the Diploma of Arts, with effect from 1 January 2014.
  • Faculty of Education and Social Work - amendment of Constitution
    Senate approved amendments to the Faculty's Constitution, with immediate effect.
  • Faculty of Education and Social Work - minor course amendments
    Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of a proposal from the Faculty regarding AQF compliance to amend the Master of Education, Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies, Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies, Master of Learning Sciences and Technology, Graduate Diploma in Learning Sciences and Technology, Graduate Certificate in Learning Sciences and Technology, Master of Policy Studies, Graduate Diploma in Policy Studies, Graduate Certificate in Policy Studies, Master of Social Work and Graduate Diploma in Social Work and approved the continued offering of the Master of Education, Master of Learning Sciences and Technology, Master of Policy Studies and Master of Social Work with their existing volumes of learning, with effect from 1 January 2014.
  • Faculty of Medicine - courses
    Senate resolved to endorse the Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty to introduce the Doctor of Medicine; and to approve the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Medicine with effect from 1 January 2014.
  • Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery - courses
    Senate resolved to endorse the Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty to introduce the Master of Primary Health Care, Graduate Diploma in Primary Health Care and Graduate Certificate in Primary Health Care; and to approve the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery with effect from 1 January 2014.
  • Faculty of Veterinary Science - amendment of Constitution
    Senate approved amendments to the Faculty's Constitution, with immediate effect.

  • Investment and Commercialisation Committee - membership
    Senate appointed Professor Marian Baird to membership of the Committee, the term to conclude at the Senate meeting in May 2014.

  • Queen's birthday honours
    Senate congratulated Fellow of Senate Mr Alec Brennan AM and former Fellow Professor Simon Chapman AO on their Queen’s Birthday Honours.

  • Safety and Risk Management Committee - membership
    Senate appointed Ms Jordi Austin to membership of the Committee, the term to conclude at the Senate meeting in May 2014.
  • Staff Fellows of Senate
    Senate congratulated Ms Jordi Austin, Dr Gil Merom and Professor Robert van Krieken on their election and Professor Marian Baird and Professor Chris Murphy on their re-election as Fellows of Senate and welcomed them to the meeting.
  • Sydney College of the Arts - minor course amendments
    Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of a proposal from the College to amend the Bachelor of Visual Arts, with effect from 1 January 2014.

  • University of Sydney Business School - minor course amendments
    Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of a proposal from the Business School to amend the Master of Professional Accounting, with effect from 1 January 2014.
