Senate made the following non-confidential decisions at its meeting held on 6 August 2012:


B

  • By-law – Senate approved the proposed amendments to section and 10 of the University of Sydney By-law 1999 to enable the term of office for the next Chancellor to be four years from the date of appointment, and authorised the Secretary to Senate and General Counsel to liaise with Parliamentary Counsel and to settle the detail of the proposed By-Law.

  • Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies – Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal to amend the Master of Professional Engineering, and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty, with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Faculty of Law – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of the proposal to introduce the Master of Law and International Development, and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees and Diplomas in the Faculty, with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Sydney Conservatorium of Music – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of the proposal to introduce the Master of Music Studies (Opera Performance) and Graduate Diploma in Music (Opera Performance), and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Conservatorium, with effect from 1 January 2013.

  • 'Guidelines for Candidates for Undergraduate or Postgraduate Student Fellow of Senate' - Senate endorsed the Guidelines which relate to the elections for student Fellows of Senate.

  • Nominations and Appointments Committee – Senate appointed Mr Ben Veness to membership of the Committee in the category of student Fellow for the current search process for the position of Chancellor, which the Committee has been charged with.

  • SUPRA Constitution – Senate approved the revised Constitution submitted by SUPRA.
