A

  • Admission Ad Eundem Gradum
    – Senate admitted the following retired member of the Academic Staff to the degree of Master of Economics ad eundem gradum: Ms Lyn Amelia Henry, BEc PGDipAgEc UNE.

  • DVC positions:
    – Senate approved the establishment of two DVC positions to replace the single DVC (Education) position.

  • Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies:
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of the following proposals from the Faculty:
    - to amend the Master of Engineering to introduce the new stream of Software Engineering with effect from 1 January 2014, noting that there are no consequent amendments of the Senate Resolutions relating to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty.
    - to make minor amendments to the Faculty Resolutions for the Bachelor of Engineering, the Bachelor of Information Technology, the Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours), the Bachelor of Project Management, the Bachelor of Computer Science and Technology, the Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Arts; the Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Commerce; the Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Medical Science; the Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Project Management; the Bachelor of Engineering/Bachelor of Science; the Bachelor of Information Technology/Bachelor of Arts; the Bachelor of Information Technology/Bachelor of Commerce; the Bachelor of Information Technology/Bachelor of Medical Science and the Bachelor of Information Technology/Bachelor of Science.
    - and to make minor amendments to the Graduate Diploma in Computing, the Master of Engineering, the Master of Engineering (Electrical), Master of Engineering (Power), Master of Professional Engineering (Electrical), Master of Professional Engineering (Power), the Master of Information Technology and the Master of Information Technology Management.
  • Faculty of Health Sciences:
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty to make minor amendments to the Bachelor of Health Sciences.
  • Faculty of Law:
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of proposals from the Faculty to make minor amendments to the Resolutions of the Faculty and to continue offering the Master of Health Law with its existing volume of learning.
  • Faculty of Medicine:
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of the following proposals from the Faculty and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty with effect from 1 January 2014:
    - to replace the current MBBS double degrees with the Bachelor of Commerce/Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Economics/Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine, Bachelor of Music Studies/Doctor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science(Advanced)/Doctor of Medicine;
    - to introduce the Master of Public Health (Chronic Disease Prevention) and the Graduate Certificate in Surgical Sciences, and to delete the Graduate Diploma in Surgery
    - to introduce the Graduate Certificate in Surgical Sciences
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of the Faculty’s proposal to continue offering the Master of Public Health with its existing volume of learning.
  • Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery:
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of a proposal from the Faculty to make minor amendments to the Bachelor of Nursing (Post-registration) (Onshore) Table of Units of Study and the Bachelor of Nursing (Post-registration) (Offshore, Singapore) Table of Units of Study.
  • Faculty of Science:
    – Senate approved amendments to the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificate in the Faculty, with effect from 1 January 2014, and endorsed the Board’s approval of the proposals from the Faculty:
    - to make minor amendments to the Resolutions of the Faculty, the Bachelor of Science (Advanced)/Doctor of Medicine, the Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine, the Bachelor of Psychology, the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science/Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.
    - to make minor amendments to the Master of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Graduate Diploma in Psychology.
  • Faculty of Veterinary Science:
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of proposals from the Faculty:
    - to transfer the Master of Wildlife Health and Population Management, Graduate Diploma in Wildlife Health and Population Management and Graduate Certificate in Wildlife Health and Population Management to it from the Faculty of Science; and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Veterinary Science and the Faculty of Science, with effect from 1 January 2014.
    - to make minor amendments to the Bachelor of Animal and Veterinary Bioscience, the Bachelor of Veterinary Science, the Bachelor of Veterinary Biology and the Bachelor of Veterinary Science Table of Units of Study.

  • Gift Acceptance Policy:
    – Senate approved the rescission of the current Gift Acceptance Policy; and noted the proposed adoption of the Gift Acceptance Policy 2013 by the Vice-Chancellor.

  • Marie Bashir Institute for Infectious Disease and Biosecurity:
    – Senate approved the naming of the Sydney Emerging Infections and Biosecurity Institute as the “Marie Bashir Institute for Infectious Disease and Biosecurity”.

    – The Nominations & Appointments Committee, under delegated authority from Senate, approved the appointment of the following additional members of the Student Appeals Panel to fill vacancies:

    – The Nominations & Appointments Committee, under delegated authority from Senate, appointed Ms Maxine Evers and reappointed the Hon Brian Cohen QC to membership of the Student Disciplinary Appeals Committee for a term of office to conclude on 5 August 2015.
  • Sydney Conservatorium of Music:
    – Senate endorsed the Board’s approval of proposals from the Conservatorium to make minor amendments to the Bachelor of Science (Advanced)/Doctor of Medicine, the Bachelor of Medical Science/Doctor of Medicine, the Bachelor of Psychology, the Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts and the Bachelor of Science/Master of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • SUPRA Constitution:
    – Senate resolved to delegate authority to the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor to approve the proposed constitutional amendments following discussion with SUPRA about some issues raised in discussion.

  • University of Sydney Business School:
    – Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of proposals from the Business School to make minor amendments to the Master of Logistics Management, the Master of Transport Management, the Master of Logistic Management/Master of Transport Management, the Graduate Diploma in Logistics Management, the Graduate Diploma in Transport Management, the Graduate Certificate in Logistics Management and the Graduate Certificate in Transport Management.
  • University of Sydney (Coursework) Rule 2000:
    – Senate approved the amendment of the University of Sydney (Coursework) Rule 2000 (as amended) with effect from 9 August 2013.
  • University of Sydney Union Board:
    – The Nominations & Appointments Committee, under delegated authority from Senate, appointed Ms Simone Whetton to membership of the University of Sydney Union Board of Directors for a term of office to conclude on 31 December 2013.
