Senate made the following non-confidential decisions at its meeting held on 5 November 2012:


F

  • Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences:
    – Senate approved minor amendments to the following existing courses - Doctor of Arts and Doctor of Social Sciences - with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning:
    – Senate approved minor amendments to the following existing courses - Master of Architecture, Master of Interaction Design and Electronic Arts and Graduate Diploma in Interaction Design and Electronic Arts - with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Faculty of Education and Social Work:
    – Senate approved the amendments to the Resolutions of Senate relating to the Constitution of the Faculty of Education and Social Work with effect from 1 January 2013.
    – Senate approved minor amendments to the following existing courses - Master of Education, Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies and Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies - with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Faculty of Health Sciences:
    – Senate approved minor amendments to the following existing courses - Bachelor of Applied Science (Exercise Physiology), Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) and Master of Physiotherapy - with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Faculty of Law:
    – Senate approved minor amendments to the following existing courses - Master of Business Law, Master of Global Law, Master of International Law, Master of Laws, Juris Doctor, Graduate Diploma in International Business Law, Graduate Diploma in International Law and Graduate Diploma in Law - with effect from 1 January 2013.

    Faculty of Medicine:
    – Senate endorsed the Academic Board’s approval of the proposal from the Faculty of Medicine to amend the Master of Surgery to introduce the stream Surgical Skills; and approved the amendment of the Resolutions of Senate related to the Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates in the Faculty of Medicine with effect from 1 January 2013.
    – Senate approved minor amendments to the following existing courses - Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery,; Master of Clinical Trials Research, Graduate Diploma in Clinical Trials Research, Graduate Certificate in Clinical Trials Research,; Graduate Diploma in Indigenous Health Promotion,; Master of Medicine (Pain Management), Master of Science in Medicine (Pain Management), Graduate Diploma in Pain Management and Graduate Certificate in Pain Management - with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery:
    – Senate approved minor amendments to English language proficiency requirements and clinical requirements, and to the following existing courses - Bachelor of Nursing (Post-registration), Master of Cancer and Haematology Nursing, Graduate Diploma in Cancer and Haematology Nursing, Graduate Certificate in Cancer and Haematology Nursing,; Master of Emergency Nursing, Master of Intensive Care Nursing, Master of Mental Health Nursing, Graduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing, Graduate Diploma in Intensive Care Nursing, Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing, Graduate Certificate in Emergency Nursing, Graduate Certificate in Intensive Care Nursing and Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Nursing - with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Faculty of Science:
    – Senate approved minor amendments to the following existing courses - Bachelor of Science; Master of Nutrition and Dietetics - with effect from 1 January 2013.
  • Fellows of Senate:
    – Senate congratulated Patrick Massarani on his election as Undergraduate Student Fellow of Senate and James Flynn on his re-election as Postgraduate Student Fellow of Senate, for two years from 1 December 2012.
    – Senate recorded its appreciation for the contribution made by retiring Undergraduate Student Fellow of Senate Ben Veness.

  • Nominations and Appointments Committee:
    – Senate appointed James Flynn to replace Ben Veness as a member of the Nominations and Appointments Committee from 1 December 2012, when Mr Veness ceases to be a Fellow of Senate, for the current search process for the position of Chancellor, with which the Committee has been charged.

  • Sydney College of the Arts:
    – Senate approved the amendments to the Resolutions of Senate relating to the Constitution of the Faculty of Education and Social Work with effect from 1 January 2013.

  • Traffic and Parking Policy:
    – Senate resolved to rescind the 2003 Senate Resolution 'Traffic: Control of Traffic within the University 2003' and to endorse the new policy 'Traffic and Parking 2012'.

  • University 2013 Budget:
    – Senate approved the University 2013 Budget.
  • University of Sydney (Higher Degree by Research) Rule 2011:
    – Senate approved the amendments to the Rule, with effect from 9 November 2012.
