The University of Sydney's inaugural Shanghai graduation ceremony was held in 2006. Since then, the University's graduation ceremonies in China have been an annual event, shared between Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

Graduation ceremony, 31 October 2006
The University of Sydney further strengthened its position in mainland China with a first-ever graduation ceremony in Shanghai, the city at the heart of China's economic boom. The inaugural ceremony was held in the futuristic Sky Ballroom, Shanghai Grand Theatre on 31 October 2006.

Chancellor Justice Kim Santow welcomed more than 500 guests including graduates and their families to the ceremony.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Gavin Brown said the graduation ceremony and associated events "make a statement about the strength of Sydney's commitment to China".
The President of Fudan University, Professor Wang Shenghong, was the guest speaker at the graduation ceremony. He acknowledged the strong links between the two universities, particularly the joint TESOL program.

Graduation ceremony, 18 October 2008
The University's 2008 Shanghai graduation ceremony was held on 18 October 2008. The Vice-Chancellor and Principal Dr Michael Spence presided at the ceremony and gave the occasional address. The ceremony and alumni reception in the city centre were attended by more than 200 Chinese students, and their families, who had recently completed University of Sydney degree programs.

Graduation ceremony, 22 October 2010
The University's 2010 Shanghai graduation ceremony was held on 22 October 2010 at the JW Marriott Hotel, during the University's program of events at the end of the World Expo. The Chancellor Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO conferred degrees on 213 recent Chinese graduates in the ceremony, and the Vice-Chancellor Dr Michael Spence gave the occasional address.

Graduation ceremony, 29 October 2012
A graduation ceremony was held in the Grand Ballroom, Marriott Shanghai City Centre, Shanghai, at 6.30pm on Monday 29 October 2012.
The Chancellor Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO presided at the ceremony and the Graduation Address was given by Dr Michael Spence, Vice-Chancellor and Principal.
